How it works

MS is active where support is most needed

We started by supporting those working in education. That experience clearly showed that the same patterns of injustice also affect the wider community.

We are not changing our mission — we are expanding it.

This is neither a fund nor humanitarian aid. This is a system of direct support in which people step in for one another when institutional support fails.

Direct

Support goes from person to person.

Fast

Reaction is possible when it is most needed.

Transparent

The process is clear, with no centralised fund.

WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT

This is not just a donation.
This is solidarity.

Humanitarian aid frequently comes from afar – someone gives, someone receives. MS works with a different understanding, namely that injustice can happen to anyone, and that nobody should be left to fend for themselves when it does.

It is not help from ‘above’

Here there is no difference between those who have and those who don’t. There is a community of people who react when support is needed.

Not pity.

Solidarity is not rooted in mercy, but responsibility. Today you give support. Tomorrow, someone else supports you.

Not a mere transaction

Donation is not the end of a process, but is part of a network of trust, protection, and communal response.

Solidarity means that people are not left to suffer the consequence of injustice alone.

How does MS work?

We don’t collect money into a central fund. The donation goes directly to the person who needs it.

More than 7,500 reasons not to give up

These are honest voices, spoken with dignity –- testimonials from people who received solidary aid through MS

You were our strength, our support, and our greatest friend when we had it worst! You have shown and taught us that solidarity, harmony, and empathy give strength to continue the struggle for a democratic and free Serbia! We keep on pumping! Big thank you for everything!

In moments when we were confronted with inhuman actions and open threats on our lives, you were our voice, our shoulders to lean on, and our strength. You did not allow us to be left alone when facing injustice. Your solidarity and your courage have shown that dignity and humanity are defended collectively. Thank you for standing by our side, and for giving us strength to keep on fighting for a more just future.

Educational Republic of Užice

Dear MS,
In moments when I fight for a dignified life and respect for moral values and human rights, it is wonderful to receive the kind of support I have received from you, and it was not only me, but so many of us who you've supported. Thank you for encouraging me and showing me that I am not alone, and that solidarity is just not a word on paper! Thank you for everything you have done ?

Dear people, thank you for giving us safety in these difficult times and for being someone we could rely on. Money meant a lot to us, yes, but much more than that it was the feeling that someone is taking care of us, and that we all stand together in solidarity. For that, thank you so much! Until we win!

Dear people,
MS was one of the bright moments of this revolt of ours. With full enthusiasm, I have initially registered as a donor, back when many doubted it [MS] would work, when many told me it was a scam, and that I fell for it. It took me a lot longer to become a Delegate. I applied around ten of my colleagues, and myself for support here. To me, MS meant that we were not alone, and that there is a group of people who fight alongside and for us. It meant less for me if my missing salary would be financially covered, but much more important to me was the awareness that we have people who stand in true solidarity with us. Our salaries have been covered, but the struggle does not stop. I continue being a Donor to this day! Together with fellow citizens, I take care of injustly arrested fellow protesters. You were a huge inspiration!

How is support distributed?

We are expanding our network of verified delegates – teachers who represent collectives that participate in the cessation of work. Delegates are mediators between donors and teachers, ensuring that we receive trusted information about the number of those affected by repression and the exact reductions in salary. With this approach we wish to encourage collectives to unite and organise as best possible, to support one another, while we act as coordinators between donors and teachers. This system functions as a peer-to-peer Solidarity Network.

Who can participate?

Solidary aid is meant for those who are experiencing repression due to their professional, social or civic engagement. This includes, depending on the area:

- Education employees
- Students and members of the academic community
- Citizens struck with repression
- Individuals receiving fines or facing pressures and other consequences of their engagement for the public interest

Is the money sent directly to recipients?

No. MS does not work as a centralised fund, and no money is transferred to or kept in the MS system. The donations go directly from the donors to those it is meant for.

How are aid requests verified?

Information about the Recipients is sent via the Delegates, partner organisations, and a network of trust. Their role is to verify base information, and then to help direct aid where it is needed, responsibly and correctly.

How can I become a donor?

You need to register as a Donor on the MS website. After registration, you gain access to your profile and to transaction instructions when there is an active need in the system.
